Art director and Interior Stylist Hans Blomquist collaborates with photographer Debi Treloar to create a feast for the eyes in this amazing and inspiring colour based interiors book.
Hans began his colourful career at the tender age of 16 when he worked for Swedish furniture giant Ikea. From there he worked his way up the ladder to become Art Director of their famous catalogue until eventually he moved to London to work freelance. Hans has an incredible portfolio of clients & brands from Anthropologie and Harrods to high street giants John Lewis, H&M and Marks and Spencer.
There's a real eclectic mix of styling here, which is something I really like. He always reverts back to nature in some way or another, natural materials like wood and plants or fruits contrast with harder, more industrial style pieces of furniture.
One of Hans' top tips from the book is to always add a touch of green. It's a great little styling trick that brings a scene to life- Hans explains how if you're looking at a room or a an area and it feels as though it's lacking something, it's usually something green!
This book is my absolute MUST read of the week, it's incredibly inspiring as Hans has an unbeatable eye for colour, styling and beautiful wabi-sabi 'imperfect' textures and finishes. Like myself, Hans relies heavily on nature for his inspiration and goes into much depth in this book about how much it influences his choice whether it be in the paint used on the walls or a hand-dyed fabric hanging on the back of an antique french chair.
'Every colour on this planet is inspired by nature' as written by Hans, is something we often forget, but never should.
